Skyscanner to Bangkok

From the day my girl-friend told me that Bangkok is her dream holiday destination It has become my dream destination also. Even in my dreams I find myself planning for a revitalizing holiday at fascinating locations of Bangkok which is the capital city of Thailand. I don’t know how Skyscanner scanned my mind and provided me a wizard to plan my dream destination and make my fairy happy. Earlier it was a cumbersome job to plan even a domestic trip, but my experience with Skyscanner inspired me to write this post.

So I just typed the url http://www.skyscanner.co.in/ and started browsing through the options I get at the opening screen. Though I have the budget to go Bangkok by bus only but Skyscanner provided me with the best options of flights. For me they are AIR-Buses in my budget.

As soon as I chose the date to fly to Bangkok and clicked the button to find out the flight options Skyscanner Wizard provided me with 180 options (which is huge number for me) starting from rupees 21, 485 for a return flight for two, a very pocket friendly for a guy like me who want to suck the every drop of blood from the body of all the travel company’s owners who have overcharged me in my previous trips. Not only this, Skyscanner provides the list of travel agencies below the flight options. I chose the option to book flights myself and booked the return flight of Singapore Airlines immediately at just Rupees 41, 838 How greedy I am? Yes, I can’t wait till the rates are increased or seats are filled.

Now the next idea was to give my wife a luxury stay at Bangkok, So I moved further on the hotel tab and without filling any details Skyscanner picked my destination options from my flight search wizard and translated them into hotels. And after a simple click it showed me 1222 hotel options out of which 1151 were available for staying. I chose The Landmark Bangkok a four star hotel at Sukhumvit Road which is a convenient location through Nana Skytrain. It costed my only 32, 778 rupees for four nights for a double room, a little high amount for me but it is not much dearer for the happiness of my dear wife as its her dream destination of life.

Now it was time to plan for local visit. So I opted to hire a car for all four days. What fascinated me in car search was the option to choose drivers age. It gave me 104 car hire options and many options for sizes of cars. I chose the full size option to fit all our huge shopping bags in it. It costed us just rupees 13,037 for all 4 days. I think it was enough for the comfortable ride around Bangkok.

And finally the day came, dressed in our track suits to have a comfortable flight. We boarded the flight from Delhi International Airport terminal 3 at 9.25 AM. It was 8.30 hrs comfortable flight we had a glimpse of clouds from the airplanes window and went into dreams. When we reached Bangkok airport our hired car was waiting at the exit. We decided to relax at the hotel and went straightaway to out pre-booked hotel through Skyscanner. We had Thai dishes in the dinner and relaxed in our room.

The sightseeing in all these four days were much revitalizing. we went to Grand Palace and we were lucky enough to catch the changing of the guards. It is was short but impressive ceremony. It was funny to see visitors jumping in front of guards while they change their positions.

It was a fascinating visit to Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. It was a crowded area and there are boats all around. Shops were decorated on the boats floating over water. It was a good sight for first time visitor.

Wat Arun "The Temple of the Dawn", Located on the west bank of Chao Praya River (Thonburi side). The most attractive structure of Wat Arun is the center 79 meter high pagoda. You have a wonderfull view from the pagoda to Bangkok-Ratanakosin island. It was a divine and peaceful palace.

Being art lover it was great experience to visit Jim Thompson House, Khlongs Canals, Ayuthaya ant Little India. All the places are known for its architect and its historic relevance.

Wat pho and Baiyoke Tower were also equally enjoyable places to be visited with family. Many families were enjoying there. Shopping at Chinatown and Chatuchak weekend market was great fun. We returned to airport with many shopping bags full of gifts for every family member. We had already checked out the hotel on the last day before going to sightseeing. So we enjoyed every moment of shopping during the last hours of our Bangkok trip. Our hired car driver dropped us to airport for our returning flight. We kept on thanking Skyscanner for providing such a comfortable car service and hotel. Early morning at 5.30 we landed in Delhi. It is almost a month gone after this but we are still feeling like we are living in Bangkok.

When the statement of my credit card came and I was simply astonished to see we only spent Rupees 1 lakh on our dream holiday. Here is a simple calculation

Return Flight 41, 838
Hotel Stay 32,778
Car Hire 13,037
Shopping 12,400

I have already bookmarked Skyscanner and decided to plan my every business or holoday trip through Skyscanner. What you would like to say about my experience?
